Oregon Students, Employers, Patients to Benefit from More Nursing Graduates
PORTLAND, Ore. – October 22, 2018 – Oregon’s State Board of Nursing approved expanded capacity – from 48 to 72 students starting each term - in Concordia University–Portland’s Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program, supported by Orbis Education.
“Concordia’s collaboration with Orbis has allowed us to expand our highly competitive nursing program, thereby helping healthcare employers meet the growing demand for nurses,” said Shawn Daley, Concordia’s chief business development officer.
Concordia launched its 16-month ABSN program in 2016, in collaboration with Orbis. Since then, the program’s success is evident through its NCLEX-RN exam pass rate of 100% for its first cohort to graduate in May 2018.
The program fast tracks students who have completed their general education requirements and nursing pre-requisites into the nursing profession. It delivers a high-quality, clinically intensive nursing education in a short amount of time through a blend of online learning, practical application in a simulation lab, and in-hospital clinical rotations at top healthcare facilities throughout the Portland area.
Concordia University-Portland offers three start dates each year and is now accepting applications for the January 2019 and May 2019 starts.
