Educators nationwide to experience Oregon-based 3 to PhD education model of "Reimagining School as the Heartbeat of Community"
PORTLAND, Ore. – Oct. 17, 2018 – 3 to PhD® was selected from among 1,500 submissions nationwide as a presenter for the upcoming SXSW EDU Conference & Festival in March 2019 in Austin, Texas.
The “Reimagining School as the Heartbeat of Community” panel will engage educators nationwide in a new education model, developed with community input in Portland, Ore. by collaborating organizations Concordia University-Portland, Portland Public Schools’ Faubion School, Trillium Family Services, Kaiser Permanente and Basics Market.
The announcement from SXSW EDU comes after weeks of scrupulous review of a record-number 1,500 submissions entered via PanelPicker®, a user-generated voting platform. Each PanelPicker entry was voted on by community members, and thoroughly reviewed by the SXSW EDU Advisory Board, and staff.
In an effort to help break the cycle of inequality and generational poverty, 3 to PhD aims to create safer, healthier and more educated communities by reducing health disparities and increasing educational attainment for historically underserved and vulnerable populations.
