Concordia University – Portland has several endowments. What will happen to those funds?
In accord with the Oregon Uniform Management of Institutional Funds Act (UPMIFA), Concordia University Foundation is actively pursuing the redistribution of its endowed funds. The Foundation must submit requests to the Office of Oregon’s Attorney General. Donors and those connected to these funds can provide advice for how they would like them distributed (i.e. to another institution, for deployment of financial aid,..etc.) These written requests will need to be submitted to the Concordia University Foundation. For more information on this process, please contact the Foundation.
I have made arrangements for an estate gift to Concordia University – Portland. What can I expect?
Review your intentions as it is unlikely that Concordia University – Portland will be able to honor them after we cease operations in April 2020. Please consult with your attorney or financial advisor on how to make alternative arrangements for your philanthropic support. If you have a specific question, please contact the Foundation.
Will the college be accepting donations throughout the closure process?
There are ongoing costs for students, faculty and staff related to the closure process and we will continue to accept donations that will support these efforts. If you have a specific question, please contact the Foundation.
What about a charitable donation I made to the School of Law? Will that be returned?
Charitable donations cannot be returned to individual donors. We will be in touch with foundations who have made grants to the college.
I recently made a donation to the ninth annual Atiyeh award, what is happening with those donations?
For donations made during the paddle raise, there are two options: One is to request your donation be returned to you. The other option is to continue to honor the donation. If you chose to honor the donation the funds will support scholarships awarded to students in the 2019-2020 academic year and the current expenses of the 3toPhD program. For table sponsor or event sponsor donations, those funds were used to defray the cost of the event. If you have a specific question, please contact the Foundation.
What will happen to the Concordia University – Portland and Boise campuses after the college closes?
