Freshman BSN Program Expectations

Once admitted to the Freshman BSN Program, students must meet the following expectations of academic and personal achievement while in the freshman and sophomore years at Concordia University. Adherence to these expectations will play a determining role in student continuation with the BSN program.

  1. Maintain a 3.25 minimum cumulative grade point average in all classes.
  2. Maintain a 3.25 minimum cumulative grade point average in math and science classes including Pre-Calculus, Chemistry 101 & 102, Biology, Microbiology, and Anatomy and Physiology 364 & 365.
  3. Receive a satisfactory score on the Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI) Critical Thinking-Entrance Examination to be taken at Concordia in the fall of the sophomore year.
  4. Attend a Nursing Community Meeting each semester.
  5. Demonstrate evidence of good citizenship and responsibility while on campus. Recommendations from Concordia professors, essays, and/or an interview may be part of the process.

Continuation into the BSN cohort

BSN students will be notified in early spring of their sophomore year whether they meet the above criteria and can proceed with the BSN program. Grades for at least four science classes and pre-calculus should be available at that time. The BSN cohort begins the summer prior to student’s junior year.

Due to limited enrollment capacity, Concordia University Nursing Program reserves the right to make annual modifications of the above criteria as needed. Prospective applicants will be notified of changes in the above policy.
