Concordia University's School of Management (SOM) is inviting its MBA graduates to participate in the recently launched China Business program. MBA alumni will be able to register for six continuing education credits (CEUs), discounted at 50% of regular tuition. Upon successful program completion, they will receive a Post-MBA Certificate in Global Business: China.

MBA China SlideshowMBA Chairman Dr. Randall Donohue explains that alumni participants will integrate fully with current MBA students in studying about China during the period of March-May, 2010. For these first 3 credits, students and alumni will meet during the regular MBA weekends to analyze China business cases, interact with guest lecturers and be assigned to consulting teams. Participants will earn the remaining 3 credits during May-July 2010, which will include two weeks in Suzhou, China. At Soochow University, they will study specialized short-courses while working off-campus with Pacific Northwest and Fortune 500 firms on pre-arranged consulting projects. Returning to Portland, teams will write their final consulting reports for presentation at a formal event on July 17.

Unique features of the program include the professional consulting project and the blending of MBA alumni with current MBA students. "We expect this combination to add value and enrich the experience for all involved," Donohue says.

To earn the post-MBA certificate, alumni must complete all six credits of the China program; however, they are welcome to take the first course only for CEU credits without proceeding to the in-China experience for the second 3 credits. "But they cannot do it the other way around," Donohue explains. "The first 3 credits in Portland must be completed before participating in the China experience."
