Background
Stephen Braun's career spans more than thirty-five years, including 20 years in business and 15 years in academia. Having started two companies, he is recognized as an entrepreneur; his experience includes positions as corporate vice-president with two Fortune 1000 firms and Founder/CEO of a national-markets computer products firm. He has worked in several industries, including computer products, motion pictures, airline, distribution and packaging. He has been profiled in Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World.
In the academic community, Braun is recognized as an instructor who builds bridges between theories and "real world" practice, enabling students to understand how to apply entrepreneurial concepts in today's business world. As Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at Concordia University he teaches undergraduate and graduate MBA courses in the School of Management. His principal research involves the study of new ventures undertaken by more than sixty Pacific Northwest entrepreneurs. He edited the textbook Today's Entrepreneurs and has published a business plan case study for The Entrepreneurial Manager, an MBA course. He also serves as Senior Advisor to the University President and Foundation Board of Directors.
Braun has served as dean and executive vice president of Concordia University, visiting scholar to the University of Washington School of Business, judge of the Oregon Entrepreneur of the Year award, and national panelist for the American Marketing Association. In 1994 he founded the CEO Roundtable, an event bringing together industry-leading chief executives in a panel moderated by Fortune magazine editors to benefit the Oregon business community and student scholarships.
