Background

Mr. Miolla is an Associate Professor of Finance at Concordia University in Portland, Oregon. He started teaching at Concordia in September of 2003. While at Concordia he has taught courses in finance, accounting, and economics. He teaches in all three programs at the School of Management - MBA, BA, and BUS. He has special interests in finance topics including investment management, capital structure, and financial statement analysis. Helping students develop confidence in financial and quantitative topics is an issue that motivates him. He was given the prestigious Adjunct Professor of the year award in 2006.

Prior to joining Concordia Mr. Miolla worked at Hewlett Packard, NCR Corporation, Digimarc Corporation, and started his own company, Rebtas. Highlights of his 20 years in business include being the inventor on three patents while at Digimarc. These patents defined new uses for digital watermarking technologies. While at HP he was Director of a $500 million dollar business that applied technology to the financial services industry. At NCR he was responsible for financial management and operational results for a number of product lines. He later managed the financial services division for the Latin American region.

Mr. Miolla received a B.A. degree in economics from Colby College in Waterville, Maine. He has an MBA from the University of Southern Maine. He has also studied in executive education programs at Dartmouth College, M.I.T., and Harvard University.

Mr. Miolla has had professional affiliations with the Bank Administration Institute, American Banker, the Rotary Club, and the Chamber of Commerce. His current community activities include participating in the SOLVE environmental clean-up programs. He is also a tennis coach for Wilsonville High School. Each summer he organizes and delivers community tennis clinics for families and children. He also volunteers at the Wilsonville/Charbonneau charity tennis tournament.
