Concordia University School of Management Hires New Dean
Candace Petersen to lead Concordia’s B-School Expansion
Concordia University's School of Management hired Candace Petersen to lead its continued expansion as the university prepares leaders for the transformation of society. Dr. Petersen assumes her position in August.
Most recently, Petersen served as president and COO of Learning.Com, providing leadership and oversight as the company doubled in size over a five-year period and made key acquisitions. Prior to that, she was vice president of marketing and chief strategy officer at InFocus Corporation, and also served as general manager of the Digital Media Division for InFocus Corporation. Petersen earned an MBA and Ph.D. in System Science from Portland State University, and a bachelor's degree in math and economics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. Meanwhile, she has taught courses in marketing and strategy as an assistant professor at Portland State University.
"Dean Petersen's experience as a top executive, as an educator, and as a leader in online learning positions Concordia's School of Management for continued Lutheran, liberal arts excellence, providing students with expanded opportunities as the university's business programs continue to grow," said Concordia President Charles Schlimpert.
Meanwhile Concordia School of Management's immediate former dean, Dr. Steve Braun, and another former dean, Ann Widmer, were both named dean emeriti. Dr. Braun will continue to teach, provide MBA leadership transition oversight, and will continue to serve in a key advisory role. Dr. Widmer will continue to teach MBA courses, including health care administration.
