Ribbon Cutting Anticipated in Late Fall 2011

Concordia University's law school building in downtown Boise is nearing completion. With the continued construction progress at W. 501 Front Street, the University is pleased to reaffirm its commitment to offer a juris doctor degree program. The anticipated date for student enrollment is Fall 2012. In the meantime, we continue to offer continuing legal education (CLE) classes. We are grateful for the ongoing outpouring of community support during the development stage of this important project. We'll keep you posted on the anticipated Ribbon Cutting Ceremony in late Fall 2011 to celebrate the opening of the building.

Next up in the CLE Series: Judges Panel June 14

This spring, Concordia University School of Law, in collaboration with Northwest Nazarene University, has offered three excellent Continuing Legal Education classes designed to assist area lawyers in honing their oral advocacy skills. The fourth and final class of this series is titled "Oral Advocacy: What Judges Want You to Know" and will feature esteemed members of the Idaho judiciary, moderated by Idaho State Bar Commissioner Molly O'Leary.

The panel will discuss the importance of oral argument, mistakes to avoid, recognizing standards of review, the difference between arguments to the court and arguments to a jury, and focusing on the "close questions". The panel will also address pre-solicited questions from attendees.

This class is pending CLE approval for 1 ethics credit and 0.5 general credits. The cost is $35, includes lunch, and will be held Tuesday, June 14, 11:45 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at NNU Boise Center, 250 South 5th St., Suite 100 in Boise. To register, email jithompson@cu-portland.edu or call 208-955-1001.
