R. Michael Southcombe

Mr. Southcombe was born in Spokane, Washington. He received an undergraduate degree an an LLB degree from the University of Idaho. He is admitted to practice in all state and Federal Courts in Idaho and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Mr. Southcombe served as the Chief Deputy Attorney General for Idaho from 1963 until resigning in December of 1968. Thereafter Mr. Southcombe acted as staff attorney for the Idaho State Senate, as an advisor to the Senate Finance committee and, for two years, was Boise County Prosecuting Attorney. He was a principal in the Boise law firm Cosho, Humphrey, Greener and Welch and was a founder and Past President of the Bankruptcy Section of the Idaho State Bar. He was selected by his peers for inclusion in the publication "Best Lawyers in America."

In July of 1993 he was appointed to the Idaho State Tax Commission. In January of 1995 he became chairman of that commission and remained so until he resigned in the summer of 2000. In 1995 Mr. Southcombe as appointed Idaho's representative to the Multistate Tax Commission (MTC), an interstate compact in which 44 states and the District of Columbia participated in sales and income tax audits of multistate companies. He served as Treasurer and Vice-Chairman of the MTC until 1998 when he was elected Chairman. He remained in that position until his resignation from both commissions in 2000.

Mr. Southcombe has remained active in various civic and charitable organizations. He retired as a Colonel from the U.S. Army reserve. In partial retirement now, he enjoys a limited and specialized practice of law.
