Kris Kuhn has been teaching for 28 years. Born in Ohio, she moved to Hong Kong when she was eight. After high school, Kris attended Valparaiso University in Indiana, and graduated with a B.S. in Education, with an English concentration. She moved back to Hong Kong, married Dr. Bill Kuhn (the Instrumental Program Director here at CU), and taught weasels in middle school for seven years, and had two kids, Michael and Elizabeth. In 1993, the family moved back to Seward, NE where Kris taught high school and completed her MS in English, Education.
After teaching high school, Kris accepted the Director of General Studies position at Concordia University – Seward, and began pursuing her PhD in Professional Studies, emphasizing first-year college student development and retention. Sick of the winters in Nebraska, Bill and Kris moved to the Great Northwest in 2008. Kris taught as a part-time professor at CU until she was hired as the Director of the Academic Resources Center (ARC). She completed her Ph.D. in March of 2016 and how has all the superpowers that go with it! In her spare time, she enjoys snarky humor, good friends, laughter, and exploring Portland.
