Answers
- What is PIN, NAC, Username, Gnumber?
- NAC
- NAC is short for Network Authentication Code. ITS sends these automatically to new students to be used in signing up for a network account (Staff and Faculty accounts are automatically created—no NAC is generated). Using the NAC (a 5 digit number) and another piece of personal information you can sign up for a network account. Your NAC is used ONCE to sign up for a network account and NEVER AGAIN. You will normally receive your NAC through U.S. Mail. If you have not yet received a NAC and need a network account, please contact the CU Helpdesk ( support@cu-portland.edu or (503) 493-6300). Note: NACs can only be given in person, or through U.S. Mail for security reasons.
- Network Account
- A network account is a user name (usually, but not always, your first initial and last name), and a password. Your user name is also the first part of your E-mail address, such as jdoe@mail2.cu-portland.edu . Students must use the NAC (see above) and activate their account (by following the directions in the NAC letter (sent US Post from CU Information and Technology Services). Faculty and staff accounts are automatically created using the standard username (first initial of first name and full last name—Daffy Duck = dduck) and a standard password (Call the CU Helpdesk for more info (503) 493-6300).
- My.CU Site (Banner)
- The My.CU Site is a web site which is an interface to the university administrative system. The My.CU site has different purposes for different types of users. For students, My.CU is primarily used for reviewing billing account information, class schedules, printing unofficial transcripts, and registering for courses. It is accessible through a link on the Intranet home page (http://intranet.cu-portland.edu/) , and will be linked from other places in the future. For faculty, my.CU is primarily used for reviewing course rosters and inputting final semester grades (mid term grades are not input using my.CU).
- My.CU ID (User ID)
- A my.CU ID (also known as a Banner number, Banner ID number or 'G' number) is your unique identification number used by Concordia University Portland. It will start with the letter, "G" and be followed by 8 digits. It can usually be found on transcripts, student receipts (for students) and/or teaching contracts (for faculty) and is also printed on your CU ID card. You will use your my.CU ID along with a PIN to access your grades, class schedules, registering for classes, view and order transcripts (for students) and/or review class rosters, course schedules and inputting final grades (for faculty) on my.CU Site.
- PIN
- PIN is short for Personal Identification Number and is provided to new and existing users for use in accessing my.CU Site. If you need your PIN you can now retrieve it from Concordia Intranet home page (http://intranet.cu-portland.edu/) Just click the Look Up MyCU PIN link beside your login name in the upper blue bar of the page.
- Registration (Alternate, Advisor) PIN
- The "Registration PIN" is a new access PIN that was recently instated to ensure contact between students and advisors. If you are a student who needs to add or drop a class, you must contact your Advisor and they will give you the Registration (Alternate, Advisor) PIN. This Registration (Alternate) PIN is only necessary if you are prompted for it when adding and dropping classes. You will enter this PIN only when prompted and after you use your MY.CU PIN to initially login.
Summary:
- NAC = one time use 5 digit number used to activate a brand new network account. Use once. Destroy.
- Network Account = username (usually first initial + lastname) used for logging on to computers, Intranet, WebCT, E-mail, etc)
- My.CU UserID = unique 9 digit student ID number assigned to each student and used as a username for logging into the My.CU site
- My.CU PIN = used by students to log into My.CU Site for online registration, billing summary, class schedules, etc…
- Registration (Alternate) My.CU PIN = Given by advisors and used by students to add or drop classes online from within the MY.CU site, and after they login with their G Number and MY.CU PIN.
- When do I use my network username and when do I use my Gnumber to login?
Use your network username and password you chose during account creation to login to:
- Intranet
- Campus computers
- WebCT
Use you Gnumber and 6 digit PIN to login to:
- My.CU
- I can’t login to the intranet; I don’t know my password or network username
-
If you have not created your network account, you will not be able to login to the university network (intranet), email, or Webct.
To create your network account you need to use a 5 digit, one-time-use NAC (network activation code).
Watch a short video that takes you through your account creation - step by step! -
You should have received this in the mail on a bright green piece of paper. These green letters with account creation codes are sent as soon as you PAY for your courses. If you do not have this code, and you have already PAID, we can re-mail one to you via US mail, or you can pick it up at the help desk in the library on campus, with a photo ID. For security, they cannot be given over the phone or via email. To request a NAC re-send, email support@cu-portland.edu and put “resend NAC” in the subject. Include your current mailing address in the body of the email.
- I already created my network account, but I forgot my password.
Please try all your most common passwords. 90% of the time we help with passwords, people will be able to access their account when they try 3 or four of their most common passwords. If you have ever contacted the University (the helpdesk) for support with your password, then it will be reset the last 5 digits of your SSN.
If you still can’t login, please send an email to support@cu-portland.edu and request a password reset.
- I can’t remember how to login to MY.CU
Just login to the intranet. (Get directions)
Then click the "lookup MYCU pin" link near the top, middle of the intranet page. You will be asked to put in your username and password again.
Your PIN and GNumber will be displayed. Then once you get those credentials, click the my.cu link next to the webct link back on the intranet page, and use those credentials you just looked up to login to my.cu.
- My PIN has been disabled in My.CU
- For security, if you try to log in unsuccessfully multiple times to My.CU, your PIN will be locked. You must send an email to support@cu-portland.edu and ask for your PIN to be unlocked. It usually takes about 24 hours. You will normally be sent an email when it has been reset.
- When I login to WebCT it says: You have not been found in the database.
This message is displayed if you are not loaded into any WebCT courses. Not every course at CU has a WebCT component. Check with your instructor to be sure the course you are looking for in WebCT actually has a WebCT component before contacting support.
If you are sure your course has a WebCT component, then the class may not have started yet. Students are typically loaded into WebCT the Friday evening before the course begins. Please view the WebCT master course list to see if your course has a webct component before requesting an add or contacting support. You can also check the online course schedule for the most recent data on your courses start date.
- My instructor told me to go to WebCT but I don’t see the course in WebCT
If you are taking a fully online course then you will be uploaded into the WebCT class the friday before the course begins. Sometimes the Instructor asks for students to be uploaded earlier or the day the class begins. If you are registered for an online course, and you have checked the course start date at the registrar site and the class does not appear in your WebCT course list by the start date, please view the WebCT FAQ for more information.
For self service, use the add student to WebCT form here : Add to Webct
You will need the following information:
- your full name
- network username
- course number (ie REL 141)
- course name (ie Faith for the Future)
- Instructor name
- I login and my course appears to be blank, or empty, or the links don't work.
- If you can login and see the link to your course, but when you link into your course, their is not any content, then Please view the WebCT Student FAQ for further instructions and troubleshooting.
- I graduated, or I am not taking class and don’t have a login so I can’t lookup my My.CU PIN
- Use this link to look up your credentials: https://acme.cu-portland.edu/alumnipin/
- I logged in to My.CU but now it says my PIN has expired
The first time you go into My.Cu, or if we have reset your PIN, you will be asked to change it.
Put your current PIN in and then chose a new PIN. It must be six and only six numbers or letters or a combination (best).
- I cannot login to my Web Mail online
You must put ntdom\ before your username in the username field when you are prompted to login

Make sure you are using a backslash \ and not a forward slash /
\ = good - email login works
/ = bad - email login failsThe backslash key is usually found up near the backspace key on most keyboards.
