Transfer Students
Transfer students seeking admission directly into our BSN cohort will apply for admission to the program at the same time that they apply for admission to the university. Transcripts are evaluated individually, on a case-by-case basis. Transfer students applying to take their pre-requisite nursing classes at Concordia must apply to the University through the regular transfer admission process. Transfer students with fewer than twelve semester hours or eighteen quarter hours of transferable credits may apply to the Freshman BSN Program.
BSN Transfer Admission Requirements
The application portfolio must include the BSN application portfolio checklist with $75 application fee, BSN application form, statement of purpose, official transcripts, and two references from professionals such as professors, supervisors, or clergy. Applicants will also be asked to take a critical thinking test and/or participate in an interview as a part of the admission process. A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificate is required PRIOR to entrance into the Nursing Program. This course is not available through Concordia University.
At a minimum, the BSN program requires nursing applicants to maintain a minimum 3.00 cumulative grade point average (GPA) for all college course work, including science courses. High marks in Anatomy & Physiology are expected. Applicants with a cumulative GPA and/or science GPA below 3.00 will not be considered. Transfer applicants with science course work in progress prior to the start of the summer BSN program will be considered. However, we will expect to review at least one term of each of the following: general biology, chemistry, anatomy and physiology, and microbiology.
Students interested in completing the Concordia University’s Nursing Application Portfolio for Summer 2008 will be required to participate in a Critical Thinking Test.
This is a proctored exam and lasts approximately 45 minutes. Participants will have approximately 20 minutes to check in before each scheduled exam. Once the exam begins to be administered, those who arrive late will not be able to participate.
There are several test dates available, including evenings and weekends. Space is limited, so we highly encourage participants to make plans to take the test early.
