Background

Dr. Joyce Zerwekh joined Concordia University in the summer of 2004. Before coming to Concordia, she taught at the Florida Atlantic University College of Nursing. In spring of 2003, she was recognized as their Distinguished Teacher of the Year. Previously she had received a Distinguished Teaching award from the University of Washington School of Nursing, where she taught for a total of ten years. Dr. Zerwekh has also taught at Pacific Lutheran University and Seattle University. She has been active in the hospice movement and published a major textbook, Nursing at the End of Life, in 2006. Her publications in the area of community health and hospice nursing are extensive and nationally recognized. Currently she serves as a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Nursing Education.
