Prior to joining Concordia University in 2013, Dr. Petrie taught in the business program at Concordia College in the New York City area for three years. Prior to living on the East Coast, he taught business at California State University Fullerton and the University of Redlands. His specialty is emerging information technologies and their use in business. Through the years, he has taught management, systems development, enterprise software, capstone, and research courses at the undergraduate and masters level. David enjoys engaging students in business operations and technologies through field projects and business simulation games.
David has held information technology staff and management positions in high technology and financial services companies, mostly in Southern California. In addition, he is active with consulting projects that focus on the effective use of information technologies in a variety of industries: entertainment, recreational products, telecommunications, software, non-profit, and industrial products. Business students have participated in several of these projects.
On a personal note, David enjoys travel, fishing, reading, church, and volunteer projects. He enjoys meeting and learning from people across the country and around the world. David and his wife Nancy enjoyed their time on the East Coast, as well as an extended 11-week road trip from New York to Oregon. They have five (soon to be six) grandchildren here on the West Coast.
Enjoy travel, reading, church, and volunteer activities. My wife Nancy and I thoroughly enjoyed our time on the East Coast, as well as an 11-week road trip across the U.S. on our way to Oregon. We have five perfect grandchildren in Oregon and California.
