Concordia University, in collaboration with HotChalk, a leader in online education, announced the donation of 300 technology devices to Faubion School, a preK-8 public school adjacent to the university’s campus in Northeast Portland, Ore.
The donation is the second in a series of technology infusions which aim to help close the opportunity gap at the Title I school. As part of the donation, Faubion teachers also receive the necessary professional development support to ensure the technology is integrated in a way that improves learning outcomes.

Internationally renowned author Sir Ken Robinson, PhD, visited with students at Concordia University and spoke to a sold-out crowd of 600 attendees at the 3rd Annual Gov. Victor Atiyeh Leadership in Education Awards on Feb. 4 at the Portland Art Museum.
The awards ceremony, presented by HotChalk Inc., was held at the Portland Art Museum to raise funds for student scholarships and celebrate innovative leaders in the education field. Concordia University’s College of Education prepares more teachers than any other higher education institution in Oregon.
U.S. News ranked Concordia University Portland among the top schools for online graduate education in rankings released today. For Concordia, its highest scores were in the area of faculty credentials, followed by closely by student engagement.
Concordia ranked 120th and was the only Oregon-based university to be included in the rankings and one of the only five Pacific Northwest universities to make the list.
CU graduated 926 students Dec. 14
A campus fixture for the past two and a half years, service dog “Dixie” walked in Concordia University Portland’s fall commencement on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013.
Donned in cap and gown, Dixie will join her owner, Concordia graduate Amanda Cherry, as she receives her bachelors of arts degree in English and communication with a minor in psychology from Concordia University Portland.
