Mihail Iordanov joined the faculty of Concordia University in the Fall of 2010, following 20 years of research experience in Cell and Molecular Biology. His research interests are in the fields of inflammatory diseases, biology of the skin, cell communication and cell death, and signal transduction. Dr. Iordanov is also interested in developing a research program on understanding the cellular and molecular basis of action of plant-derived bioactive substances used in traditional medical practices in various parts of the world. On example of such traditional medical practice is the use of extract of Calendula officinalis (Pot Marigold) for treating pressure ulcers in his native country, Bulgaria.
