This course is for DCEs, Pastors, Parish Nurses, DCE and pastoral studies students, as well as any individual desiring to improve pastoral care-giving skills. Participants will study the nature of loss and grief as it applies to the variety of life situations (job loss, divorce, life transitions, aging, and death) found in the life of a parish. Participants will be asked to exmaine their own experiences of loss and how those experiences might affect their ability to provide care to others. Crisis intervention and the necessity of confidentiality will also be addressed. This class will use lecture, discussion, film, and role play to facilitate learning and put care giving skills into actual practice.

Registration for the four sessions is $60.00, plus the cost of books.

Course may be taken for 2 credits of Undergraduate work at regular tuition rates.
