E. Education Candidates Impact on K - 12 Schools

Each semester Concordia University’s education candidates provide a significant presence in our local community. Over 255 candidates are placed in more than 181 partner schools from 41 districts for field experience, practicum, or student teaching. In addition, our clinical experience candidates are placed in over four private Christian schools and five area Lutheran schools. Students are presented with tutoring requirements in some of their education classes and numerous invitations to volunteer in our partnering school communities are extended (i.e., Girls Leadership and Development (GLAD), Americorp, Housing Authority of Portland, Molalla Police Activity League, Start Making a Reader Today (SMART), Boys & Girls Aid Society, Schools Uniting Neighborhoods (SUN), and Access to Student Assistance Programs in Reach of Everyone (ASPIRE). The impact of placement involvement and volunteer experiences continues after graduation as candidates obtain their first teaching positions in a multitude of districts and a variety of different schools.
