A. Who We Are
Concordia is a small (1054 students), Lutheran university located in Northeast Portland. For over 90 years, teacher education has been a major element of the academic programs at Concordia University where the values of Christian commitment, educational excellence, and service guide this learning community.
The College of Education, one of three colleges in the University, has a history of providing quality teachers for the Northwest’s schools in programs approved by Oregon’s Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) and the Northwest Commission of Colleges and Universities (NWCCU).
Concordia also has specific programs that prepare pre-ministerial candidates, teachers, and Directors of Christian Education for service to the schools and parishes of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
