Master of Education Goals
The Master of Education program at Concordia University is designed specifically for in-service educators, and is one vehicle for obtaining the Oregon Continuing Teaching License or the Initial Administrator License.
The program enables teachers and administrators to encourage positive change in the school environment through collaboration, community building, technology, literacy, and best practices that enhance the teaching and learning process.
Course Delivery Choosing from Options
On Campus
Concordia offers graduate courses on campus at times that do not conflict with the regular teaching day.
Online
Concordia University is committed to offering selected programs and courses online to support in-service educators who may have difficulty attending classes on campus, or who prefer the online learning environment. Concordia utilizes a variety of web-based technologies for instructional delivery, and ongoing learner advising and support to overcome barriers of time and distance.
Coursework for the M.Ed. in Educational Leadership, the M.Ed. in Administration, the M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction (Reading or Leadership strands), the Initial Administrator License, and the Continuing Administrator License can be completed exclusively online.
District Cohort
Where there are at least 17 in-service educators interested in pursuing a similar degree, Concordia University will work with school districts to provide a graduate degree or continuing teaching license that includes instructional training and preparation unique to each district.
International Cohort
The M.Ed. in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) is designed for cohorts overseas as well as for those who will be working with second language learners in other venues. International cohorts come to Concordia for two summers, and complete remaining requirements at home.
