Born and raised just outside of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Lori grew up living with her grandparents. From a very young child, she remembers dreaming one day of becoming a teacher. As her cousins would come to visit, she would persuade them to "play school" where she, of course, was always the teacher. Her love of teaching comes from deep within. Her first step towards this dream becoming reality was when she enrolled in college to earn her B.A. in Elementary Education.
Dr. Lori Sanchez graduated with her B.A. in Elementary Education and M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University, Portland. She completed her doctorate degree in Educational Foundations and Leadership at George Fox University. After receiving her Oregon teaching license she spent thirteen years teaching in grades second and fifth through eighth in both public and parochial schools with diverse classroom populations. While teaching, Lori served as a member on the School-wide Committee and Reading Resource Team. She also served as a district trainer for assessment and First Steps Literacy. She provided numerous professional development seminars in the area of differentiated instruction. Lori has also presented at a national conference in Las Vegas.
While completing her doctorate degree, Lori served as an adjunct professor teaching courses in both the undergraduate and graduate programs. She joined Concordia University as a full time faculty member in 2008. At Concordia University, Lori teaches traditional face-to-face courses, as well as fully online courses. She has written, revised, and edited courses for ConcordiaOnline. Lori also supervises student teachers and monitors the successful completion of candidates' Action Research and Thesis Projects assuring the scholarly expectations set forth by Concordia University.
Of all of her accomplishments, she is most proud of her three children Brandon, Brittany and Kaden.
