Background

Raised in the Northwest, Dana Barbarick attended a local, private high school, and graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education from Columbia Christian College. She later went on to earn a Master's of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University, Portland. Dana is currently pursuing a doctorate degree and completing an ESOL endorsement.

With seventeen years as an elementary school teacher, two years private and 15 years public, before moving into the teacher education realm, Dana has a wealth of practical knowledge regarding classroom practices. She worked for 5 years as the Director of Teacher Education at Cascade College before landing at Concordia University.

Her husband of 19 years Brad, works as the men's basketball coach at Concordia University. They have three children, twin daughters, Emily and Megan, and son Zachary. The family resides in the Concordia Neighborhood two blocks from campus.

Dana has taught numerous methods courses for aspiring elementary teachers, participated in the supervision of students in the field, and presented at local inservice events as well as national conferences.
