An Invitation

Small group of student chaplains

Feel free to take part in the Christian Life of the University! At its core is the belief that students, staff, and faculty share the same need: God's grace and love in Jesus! Campus Ministry is coordinated by students and involves large and small group gatherings including evening worship, prayer groups, small group Bible studies, and retreats each semester.

Five student coordinators and a large number of student 'chaplains' lead the way for campus ministry. Some chaplains serve specifically as Hall Chaplains; others serve in ministry areas such as outreach, service, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes; and others lead or facilitate small groups on campus.

Training

Students who complete the application process arrive in August prior to the start of the academic year to participate in an intensive training program led by the Campus Ministry Directors. Among many other topics, they are trained in confidentiality, conflict management, how to lead Bible studies, prayer and support groups, and book study groups. Throughout the year, students attend bi monthly training events that lead students on a journey from 'attendee' to 'chaplain-in-training' to 'lead chaplain' and even to 'mentor.' All students are welcome at these events. This process creates a built-in approach to student mentoring and faith formation.
