Residence Life
Living in the residential community is a life-changing experience. You get to live with a variety of people, all coming from different backgrounds and walks of life. You get to learn about others while learning more about yourself. You get an opportunity to build close relationships with others.
Living in the Concordia community is a chance to experience new activities and adventure: excursions to areas of Portland with your hall, serving meals at the downtown homeless shelter, participating in hall competitions and hall traditions, Night Chapel and many more!
The experiences you have in the residence halls are just as important as the things you learn in class:
- How to manage time: school, friends, laundry, homework, etc.
- How to resolve conflict in a healthy and appropriate way
- What type of nutrition and exercise plan will work for you
- Verifying who you are and who you'd like to become
- What are your values and beliefs
The list could go on. These are lessons and experiences that will shape who you are and make your college experience more meaningful.
Other perks of residence life are less abstract, but also important. When you live on campus you are only a couple minutes from all your classes—this helps with time management—and you are surrounded by other students on the same academic journey. When living in the residential area you have so many resources and opportunities at your fingertips. It is a sure fire way of getting involved.
