Café 1905

Cafe 1905

Named for the year Concordia was founded, Café 1905 is located on the first floor of the Library & Learning Center. It is a place for casual gatherings and a bite to eat, including pastries, salads, sandwiches, and fruit. The café features coffee by Sisters Coffee Company, owned by the Durham family, Concordia alumni.

Leigh-Anne and Justin Durham's connection to Concordia began on the court, playing Cavalier Basketball in navy and white. Neither of them could have guessed how that connection would continue to blossom after graduation when their family business—Sisters Coffee Company—brought them back to their old stomping ground.

For Concordia, Sisters Coffee Company is a natural partner. Justin's parents, Joy and Winfield Durham, started Sisters Coffee Company in Sisters, Ore. in 1989 roasting, packaging, and delivering the coffee out of a tiny 600 sq. ft. shop. The constant aroma of their hand-crafted coffee floating out of their small chimney attracted many loyal customers, as did the fact that they use only the highest quality Arabica beans purchased from socially conscious growers. It wasn't long before their business grew and expanded becoming a warm, welcoming, and central place for people to meet in the community...just as we believe Café 1905 will be on the Concordia campus, with their collaboration. The Durhams' values and passion for Concordia's mission make them ideally suited to help establish the place where students and the community will meet for discussions and heart-to-heart talks over a superb cup of coffee.

Special thanks to the Durham family for developing Café 1905 with Concordia and for pouring their hearts—and coffee— into creating this extraordinary new hub on campus.
