Quotes from Concordia Mentors

  • One highlight of my mentorship experience this past semester was getting to see the kids each and every week. They always ran up and gave you a hug. No matter how stressful or difficult your day had been they always put a smile one your face.
  • A highlight for me was when Performing arts came back to Vernon for the Spring class and many of our students had been there for the fall class. Some of them came up to me and gave me a hug excited to see me. That showed me that what I was doing was making a difference and what our volunteers were doing was more impactful then even we knew.
  • I have too many favorite moments from both my semesters in Performing Arts. However one moment stands out and it was during our showcase. A mother of one of the kids came up to me and thanked me. She said her children really looked up to me and that I was being a good influence to them. It felt great to know God was using me.
  • I saw one of the kids in my Health Corp class on Campus at Concordia and he ran up to say hi and talk to me. It made me happy to know that he was excited to see me, and made me understand the importance of being a role model to the kids at Faubion.
  • For the first semester I did it for the hours, but the semester in the spring I was going to do this regardless, because it was such an amazing experience in the fall.
