Concordia University's Center for Applied Lutheran Leadership (CALL) and Zion Lutheran Church, Portland, in partnership with Lutheran World Relief (LWR) is proud to host an international event focused on Africa and the eradication of malaria for the Christi Crux Lecture series. Rev. Dr. John Nunes, CEO and President of Lutheran World Relief, will give two presentations addressing the issues surrounding malaria and what can be done to eliminate it from Africa. In addition, Dr. Nunes will also serve as this year's Reformation weekend preacher at the Portland Reformation Festival Sunday afternoon at 3:00pm, October 28 at Zion Lutheran Church. WHY: Malaria kills one child every 60 seconds. Nunes will discuss the disease, strategies to address it, and how to become involved in eradicating malaria. He, along with his wife Monique, will be available to sign their children's book Little Things Make Big Differences: A Story about Malaria.
