ASCU Accomplishments

ASCU Student Fee

Voted on and approved by the student body in 2002, an ASCU fee now supports many student-initiated endeavors. For example, elected officers of ASCU may serve the students by implementing changes that the student body would like to see done. This includes such things as improvements to the student facilities, sponsoring and improving student campus publications like The Promethean and the student newspaper, providing activities for all student populations, and providing the on-campus ATM. The ASCU also works behind the scenes serving on University academic committees and works to improve campus life in general.

Intramurals

Student staff facilitates campus intramurals, a weekly recreation program for the general student body.

ASCU Offices

We now have an office for increased productivity so that we may better serve you!

ASCU Brandes Student Lounge

Better furniture and new carpets have been purchased and are now in place for your lounging needs! An excellent place to hang out between classes, do homework, listen to the radio, or even catch five. Look for more improvements in the future!

ASCU E*TRADE ATM

In response to the overwhelming number of requests for fast-cash access on campus, we have risen to the challenge, and with the aid of Student Services, Information and Technology Services, and the blessings of the Foundation, provided you with the first-ever on-campus ATM machine!

University-Wide Recycling Program

Your concerns are our concerns, and the environment is one of them. After a successful test run in Elizabeth Hall, we have expanded the recycling programs to nearly every dorm room. Our goal is to have the entire campus earth-friendly in the near future!

Town Hall Meeting

Regularly scheduled town hall meetings are a new forum for all students to express their concerns and have questions answered directly by the men and women at the top. The first one was an astounding success, and we look forward to seeing you at the next.

Allocation of Money to Clubs

ASCU can provide funding to clubs with initiative! If you have a solid idea for a club and officers, see ASCU for the appropiate paperwork to get funding for your group.

Community Fair

Every Tuesday we hope to have one or two artisans from Saturday Market here on campus in the Hagen center to show off and sell the crafts of their trade. This is a prime opportunity for you to see, try, and buy some of the goods available at Portland's unique weekend attraction.

Tuesday Tunes

You heard it here first. ASCU presents lunchtime entertainment for all to enjoy! Every other Tuesday we will have live musical entertainment for your listening pleasure! Requests and suggestions gladly accepted.

Dining Facility Hours

We are working with Dining Services Staff to adjust the hours to better suit your needs. Not everybody is out of practice early, and we have hopefully worked out a better schedule with Dining Services to accommodate you. The late-night schedule has also been adjusted to better serve those who have evening and night classes.

ASCU Activities Coordinators

Putting the power in your hands, the Activities Coordinators is a group of students who gather information, plan, and coordinate activities for Concordia students.

Donor Bench Project

The brick bench in the quad between Luther Hall and Hagen Center was initiated and organized by ASCU. Enjoy!
