Freshmen & Transfer Students

Application Instructions

You are only a few steps away from completing your application to Concordia University. Students transferring from another school in the United States, be sure to read step four.

Recommended deadlines for application submission:

Fall Semester:              July 1
Spring Semester:          November 1
Summer Semester:       April 1

  1. Complete the online application

    Freshman applicants: Click here to apply to Concordia University
    Graduate applicants: You may have additional requirements for the college or school to which you are applying. Please see the admission requirements on the program page.
  2. Submit supplemental material

    • Official transcripts from all previously attended educational institutions (high schools, language schools, colleges and/or universities) and an English translation of the transcript if it is in another language. Transcripts must by official, and mailed directly from the educational institution.
    • Proof of valid insurance is required before enrolling in classes at Concordia University.
    • TWO letters of recommendation from either current academic instructors or employers/supervisors.
    • Essay (undergraduate applicants) or Narrative Statement (graduate applicants). See prompts on admission checklist pages for the graduate programs.

  3. Send your test results

    Have your TOEFL or IELTS score results sent to Concordia. Our institutional TOEFL Code is 4079.

    TOEFL requirements:
    Undergraduate students: 71 internet-based, 195 computer-based
    Graduate students: 80 internet-based, 213 computer-based

    IELTS requirements:
    Undergraduate students: 6.0
    Graduate students: 6.5

    If you need English training and cannot meet our TOEFL or IELTS requirements, you may apply to ELS Language Centers and be conditionally admitted based on completion of the final level of classes.

    NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKERS: Your TOEFL score may be waived if you have attended school where the medium of instruction is English, or if you are a citizen of an English speaking country.  All other exams apply.  Countries where English is the national language include (but are not limited to) Canada, U.K., Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and South Africa.

    If you are applying as a freshman, an SAT or ACT score must be submitted. The minimum scores are 480 on the critical reading portion of the SAT, or an 18 composite score on the ACT. Our institutional SAT code is 4079.  

  4. Receive your I-20

    Mail or email the following items to receive your initial I-20:

    If you are transferring a visa from another school within the United States, send a copy of your current I-20 and the US Transfer Information form (PDF) signed by the International Student Advisor at the school you are attending.

    CANADIAN APPLICANTS: If you are applying as an incoming freshmen, an SAT or ACT score must be submitted. The minimum scores are 480 on the critical reading portion of the SAT, or an 18 composite score on the ACT. Our institutional SAT code is 4079.

    GRADUATE APPLICANTS: You may have additional requirements for the college or school in which you are applying.
