Making Music at Concordia

The Oregon Sinfonietta calls Concordia home.

The Oregon Sinfonietta, a Portland community orchestra with 50 members, will hold their Thursday evening rehearsals in the Fine Arts Building here at Concordia.

Conducted by Dr. Donald Appert, the Oregon Sinfonietta now counts several Concordia music majors amongst its ranks, giving them the unique opportunity to play in a full scale orchestra.

Inviting the Sinfonietta – or “smaller orchestra” – to campus is another way that Concordia’s music programs stay connected to the Portland community.  Additionally, in the spring of 2015, the Oregon Sinfonietta will collaborate with the Concordia Concert Choir for performances of “Ein Deutshes Requiem” by Johannes Brahms, under the direction of Concordia’s own Professor Kurt Berentsen.
