The Joy of Christian Ministry
Concordia’s bachelor of arts degree in Christian education prepared graduates to lead, equip, and support the educational ministry of all ages of people within a congregation. The program emphasizes the joy and the transformational power of service in the name of Jesus Christ. All students who complete coursework receive a degree in Christian Education applicable to church work in any denomination. Members of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod who complete an additional one-year internship receive a Director of Christian Education certification as non-ordained ministers within the Lutheran Church.
Students in our Christian education program receive extensive instruction in the workings of the church, coupled with broad congregation and community service experience. Courses such as teaching the faith, children’s ministry, and youth ministry are taught in a close-knit, nurturing, small class environment.
- Internships and mission work is available in schools and churches locally and all over the world
- A Christian education minor can be combined with other undergraduate studies
- Job placement services are available for all graduates
“Concordia prepared me for real-life situations by providing hands-on experience. I gained valuable insights from the people around me through the relationships and discussions in class.” – Michelle Zelmer ’12
