Program Options

Candidates join a group of 18-25 students in a Master of Arts cohort. Two options are available:

  1. 11-month, full-time program (MAT) Candidates choose this option if they want to attend school full time during the day. Classes begin in January (elementary only) and June (elementary and secondary options).
  2. 22-month, MAT Evening Program (MAT-E) Designed for the working professional, the first four semesters of classes are held two evenings a week. During the fifth and final semester, students are required to attend full time for practicum teaching, student teaching, and one final evening course. Classes start in late August of each year.

11-month and 22-month MAT Program Credit Hours

  1. Authorization Level: ECE/ELE and ELE/ECE
    Total Semester Credits: 39
  2. Authorization Level: ML/HS and HS/ML
    Total Semester Credits: 36-39

Professional Church Work (PCW) Certificate

Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod students enrolled in the MAT program may elect to enroll in the PCW program. By completing additional requirements, MAT students will become eligible for placement in a Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod school. Tuition for these additional courses will be billed at a Professional Church Worker rate. Please contact your admission counselor for more information at 503-493-6523.
