Preparing to Inspire a Generation of Young Minds
Developing the next generation of teachers has been a cornerstone of Concordia University’s academic purpose for more than 100 years. The College of Education focuses on nurturing potential educators so that, one day, they will do the same in classrooms of their own. We offer education degree programs at every level – many of which can be earned online – from a Bachelor in Education to a master’s and doctorate degree program.
Here you can specialize in teaching pre-kindergarten, elementary, middle school, or high school students. You can design and direct Christian education programs in schools or churches. You will learn best practices for encouraging positive change in the school environment. Whether you’re looking to start your teaching career with a bachelor’s degree, further it with a master’s, or enhance it with your doctorate, Concordia is leading the way in education.
A Call to Serve
Through a rigorous mix of time-tested curriculum and in-classroom training, an education degree from Concordia will help you prepare future generations to learn and to create their own life successes. Our teaching programs are approved by the Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) and by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). If teaching is your calling, Concordia is your school.
Giving Back to the Community
With our long and celebrated history of preparing future educators, Concordia is serving the needs of our education students and our community.
An innovative partnership between Concordia University-Portland, Portland Public Schools, and Trillium Family Services, 3 to PhD® is designed to create safer, healthier, and more educated communities. In the new Faubion PK-8 School set to open in fall 2017, future teachers will be trained from day one in a diverse, urban PK-8 public school. Our students will benefit from these hands-on experiences while Faubion’s 500+ students and their families will benefit from expanded opportunities to “pursue their highest dreams” (PhD).
"The personal and professional satisfaction I’ve gotten out of this program is significant. This university experience has probably been the best schooling experience I’ve ever had."
